FAQs
How is OnBoard different from systems like EmpirBus, CZone, WAGO, YachtSense, or Navylec?
OnBoard is a fully proprietary and flexible solution, not comparable 1:1 with off-the-shelf systems like CZone or YachtSense. Unlike those limited, modular systems, we offer complete control over both hardware and software, allowing us to deliver features competitors simply can’t. As for Navylec this system is no longer actively developed and fails to meet current standards for safety, reliability, and integration. OnBoard represents a new generation of technology built to outperform and outlast legacy systems.
Is OnBoard compatible with devices from Simrad, Garmin, Raymarine, etc.?
Yes. OnBoard supports NMEA 2000, Modbus, CAN, and many other protocols. We seamlessly integrate with chartplotters, radars, autopilots, and devices from manufacturers like Simrad, Garmin, Raymarine, Furuno, and more.
Can I connect depth, temperature, fuel, and grey water tank sensors?
Absolutely. OnBoard supports a wide range of sensors, both analog and digital. Readings can be displayed on your touchscreen, mobile app, or integrated with navigation systems.
Do I have to use your screens, or can I use existing ones on my boat?
You can use third-party displays (e.g., Garmin, Simrad, Raymarine) as long as they support open communication standards. We also offer custom touchscreen panels with fully personalized graphical interfaces.
Can OnBoard automate scenarios like anchoring mode, night mode, or charter mode?
Yes. We create advanced automation scenarios for example, a “night mode” can dim the lights, mute the audio system, and activate CCTV. All logic is tailored to your preferences.
Can OnBoard manage power systems (batteries, chargers, generators, solar)?
Yes. Our system allows full monitoring and control of your electrical system, including battery banks, chargers, inverters, shore power, solar sources, and generators complete with diagnostics and data logging.
Do I have to buy a fixed system package?
Not at all. OnBoard is modular and fully configurable. You can implement just the features you need, with the option to expand later.
What kind of technical support and updates do you provide?
We offer remote diagnostics and software updates, without needing to board the yacht. Our engineering team works directly with the client or shipyard, no middlemen.
Can I control the system remotely for example, from my phone while ashore?
Yes. OnBoard can include a remote access module, enabling you to control and monitor your vessel from anywhere in the world start the AC, view cameras, check battery levels, and more.
What makes your Socket switches and outlets different from standard market products?
Our switches and outlets are made from aircraft-grade aluminum, available in various finishes and styles. Each button can be engraved with a custom pictogram and optional backlighting, merging premium aesthetics with industrial-grade durability.
Does OnBoard work offline?
Yes. All OnBoard features are fully functional without internet access. Remote control is an optional add-on and does not impact core system functionality.
Can I use OnBoard for refits or retrofits on older yachts?
Absolutely. OnBoard is ideal for modernizing existing vessels, especially in cases where other systems are incompatible or outdated. We can integrate with the current setup or rebuild the electrical system entirely.
How does OnBoard compare to WAGO or PLC-based automation systems?
WAGO and PLC setups are industrial control solutions, not originally intended for marine environments. They lack the flexibility, integration, and marine-specific logic OnBoard provides. Our system was built from the ground up for yachting applications, with advanced user experience, durability, and aesthetics in mind.
Are you a system integrator or a manufacturer?
We are a manufacturer of both hardware and software. That means full control over the product lifecycle, quality, and support unlike integrators of third-party systems like CZone or EmpirBus. With Yacht Concept, you deal directly with the creators of your system.
